Almost perfect lool for a barrel aged stout with a pitch black body, a three fingers consistant mocha head

Aroma of chicory, coffee, licorice and some notes of cognac

Flavours of coffee, cocoa powder, cognac, dark fruits, very roasty, a bit of smoke. Lacks of complexity but it gets better as it warms up with nutty notes.

A bit thin for a RIS, overly carbonated.

La Brasserie de la Vallée du Giffre is amazing when it comes to English inspired sessionable ales. This time they tried a new genre, a barrel aged RIS. To say it simple, there is room to improvement. I'd like to see a thicker body and some more complexity and an something more rounded.
