This is in my opinion a very nice low alcohol Belgian blonde (or Belgian pale ale) with a nice peppery note and a strong refreshing and clean bitter finish. Dry and light. Perfect in its way.

Got this one at the local Mitra in Utrecht.
From a bottle into a snifter
EBU: 30
Brewed with orange peel.
APPEARANCE: Pours a three finger, foamy, looser, white head with good retention. Clear gamboge orange with no real carbonation evident. Head fades to a foamy cap. A slight wisp remains leaving dots of lacing down the glass. Decent body but slightly foamy head.
SMELL: Belgian style. A spicy nose with coriander, green fruit, citrus aromas and phenols. Mostly a Belgian pale ale with extra citrus notes. Kind of clashes.
TASTE: Follows nose. Spicy Belgian phenols, green fruit and a bitter finish. Citrus notes, hop bitterness, spicy clove and green fruit linger on the palate. Again, a Belgian pale with citra hops.
PALATE: Light body and higher amounts of foamy carbonation. Goes down airy and foamy, finishing dry on the palate.
OVERALL: I hate to say it, but I'm getting somewhat tired of the typical Belgian pale ale with American hops. The spicy, phenolic character of Belgian yeast and the light, foamy feel of the typical Belgian pale ale don't mix well with the citrus hop character of American varieties. At least not in my book. The beer itself is fine, but given the name "Citrus Pale Ale," which screams American all over it, I expected something of a different character than this.
