Moosehead's best lager. I know you're thinkin' that Moosehead Lager is not that great and depending on where you are you may be right. If you take a tour of Moosehead in Saint John, New Brunswick you get to see the room where Moosehead Lager for Eastern Canada is made and the room where its made for the rest of the world. I got to taste that "other" lager once from the tap at the brewery. They were two different beers. Well, I digress a bit. Moosehead makes several other beers that never go outside of the Canadian Maritime Provinces and even outside of New Brunswick. One beer that is never seen outside these parts (and rarely even seen inside these parts) is Clancy's Premium Lager.
Nice head, not huge but white, and strong. All that barley malt comes through in the nose and taste in this rather dark amber coloured lager. A wonderfully strong mouthfeel with an incredibly strong, but not overpowering, aftertaste chasing away a hint of nuts. Lagers tend to take a beating but Clancy's does well on its own.
The above was written in 2003. Moosehead stopped making Clancy's Premium in 2005. It was only available on tap and then in just a few pub - I'm guessin' less then ten!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
