341 ml Bottle: BBD of 31 Jul 2013. I found it in Berlin and drank it in my hotel room out of a tumbler on 25 Feb 2013.

Amber body with a good, full head of white bubbles.

Nose and taste dominated my malty molasses: not overly strong, but the hops struggled to contain the sweetness. Caramel being the main flavour I detected.

A bit too sweet and thin for a 5% ABV brew: OK but not really balanced or well made in my eyes.

 

Clancy's is a full-bodied amber ale made with special ingredients creating an English style beer. This crafty beer is aged longer giving it a sweet matly aroma with a hint of coffee and caramel and a fleeting bitter taste.
5% ABV.
Great on-tap as well!

A - Pours a dark amber colour, thumb of head with solid retention and some sporadic lacing.

S - Musty caramel, hints of burnt toast, biscuit and grains.

T - Much like the nose with the musty caramel dominating alongside a metallic flavour and burnt sugar.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and a touch of dryness on the finish.

O - Nothing spectacular here, just an easy drinking, mild flavored amber ale. I'd prefer this to regular Moosehead Lager, but that's not saying much.

 

 

 

 

pint poured at some small pub in the middle of PEI can't remember the name of the pub and forgot to write it in my notes

A clear bronze with a shitload of carbonation feeding a tight two finger head that stays for quite a while and leaves partial rings of lace well down the glass

S malty caramel and some sweet grains, not much going on here

T what I smell but with some skunk and a sour flavor that hurts its cause

M well carbonated and thick enough keep it from having a watery feel and all the bubbles help it out

D the flavors off so I doubt I'll try it again

perhaps a dirty tap but that being said this beer looked great but came up short in other areas

Gotta ask; why is this beer "retired" when I just had it on tap yesterday?

A - Amber in color.

S - Smells malty, but a little medicine like.

T - Surprisingly it is pretty good. It isn't anything special, but for one of the mass produced companies it is enjoyable. A little sweet and malty.

M - Really didn't notice much. Kinda bland.

D - I had a second one. For a generic beer it isn't bad.

Again, not sure why this is showing as no longer made. Had mine at O'Leary's in St. John NB and the tap handle clearly said Clancy's Amber. Probably the best of the Moosehead beers.

On-tap at West 50 Pourhouse. Some amber colour. Creamy but awful taste made it terrible and undrinkable. The moose was loose.Muddy and I wish more watery, like terrible cold herbal tea in foul water. Constructive criticism: don't brew this, don't serve this.

On tap at Robber’s Roost in Halifax.

Poured a crystal red- amber..fair off white cap that stayed a while, moderate carbonation.

Aroma is sweet, malty, some grass, light whiffs of fruit.

Mild in character, smooth and inoffensive almost lager-like

Nice dose of bready-sweet malt up front then a good balance from some piney hopping, some nut and fruit tones from the roasted malt...wet finish with gradual bittering and a mild metallic after taste.

Probably one of the better commercial east coast beers but not as ale-like as Black Pearl

Poured from can with a (surprinsgly) generous head, a very pretty amber held up to the light. Leaves some lacing. Seems pretty good from the looks of things. Fairly predictable aroma - lots of amber malt, light hops and odd apple/brown sugar funk. Flavour follows the same typical profile, pretty weak but nothing offensive. A little too 'macro' in character too be a definite sweet or any other quality, but maybe a light bitterness. You can tell the quality control isn't too closely watched. To their credit however, they keep the amber malt clean and tastefull. Very light bodied however carbonation well suited. I have no problems drinking this...one or two, anyways...
