The appearance was a hazy burnt dark orange close to brown color with a slight transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace. Lacing gets stringy after the head dissipated. The smell starts off with a sweet to bitter piney to orange rind and then a light grapefruit peel combining with a nice caramel malt backbone. The taste leaned towards the bitter side of the orange and grapefruit rind-like qualities and then making a decent effort to balance with the caramel malt backbone. The aftertaste was balanced between the malt and the hop bitterness. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable to sipping quality about it. Carbonation runs light letting the hop bitterness impound enough harshness on my tongue. Overall, its a good DIPA worthy of coming back to.

On tap at Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock, VT. 12oz pour into their branded snifter.
Look: Copper, pretty clear, thick white head, slowly settles to foam cap, lots of lacing sticks to the glass.
Smell: The main hop is Azzaca in this brew which gives it a mixed tropical, citrus aroma with a touch of earthy spiciness. The malt is also noticeable, a bit of caramel.
Taste: Bitter bite, citrus and tropical flavors, sweet malts balancing in the back end. The malts may overpower a bit, and the bitterness comes through more than the hop flavor, but still a pleasant brew.
Feel: Medium body, low side of moderate carbonation.
Overall: Bold flavors, and tastes and smells as the brewers describe. A DIPA that does not shy away from the malt backbone, a promising brew from a promising fairly new brewery.
