Walking past an open window with table seating and entering directly into the bar area, the seating is adjacent towards the back, past the to-go coolers. Local vibe, pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon. Murals, plants, games, kid and pet friendly, seemingly.

The bartender was great, she gave detailed tasting descriptions that were helpful.

Selection was pretty varied, maybe a dozen on tap, plus another dozen in the coolers. Tried a couple lagers on tap, got a mixed 4-pack and a couple 12 oz. BA stouts to go.

Sketchbook is an anchor of the Evanston beer scene, along with Temperance & Double Clutch. I like their Skokie location a little bit more since it has more space and a few more taps.

Continuing my Evanston journey, the bus drops me off across the street from a little joint known as Sketchbook. Directly across is the L station, which I will be utilizing soon. Inside is somewhat small at first, around the bar area there is precious little seating, save for some tables by the window, but hang the left corner ahead and you'll find both expanded seating options and even a space for kids to enjoy themselves. Right on. The range on offer is pretty decent, with a few IPAs (REALLY!?!?!?!? never woulda guessed), some sours, a couple saisons, and even a cream ale. Yup, I had that. Had to. Beers are pretty solid as well, nothing mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable. The bartender was very cool, we jawed about the beers and whatnot for most of my sojourn. No food, but you can bring stuff in. Pricing is standard for the area. Overall, good times were had at Sketchbook, 'nuff said.

Small storefront tap room constructed with a lot of recycled materials. They had 17 beers on tap when I visited. There were 8 beers in cans to go as well. The quality of the beer is very good to excellent. Service was also good.

Tight space in the taproom, but supposedly expanding in Fall 2019. 10 - 15 beers on tap, including a guest cider and kombucha. Visitors are encouraged to sketch on the back of beer coasters; there's a wall of best and near-best coaster sketches. All beers are solid (well, no, technically they're liquid, but they're all really good).

First came here when you still had to walk through the back alleyway and enter a barely noticeable back door. Was a little sketchy but once I got inside I just kind of laughed at that fact. The selection is a little small, but this is a very tiny brewery. I do love their focus on less common styles.

Great spot, I just wish it was twice the size. Their Orange Door Double Dry is one of the best beers I have ever had. They've recently rebranded, and they've got a new great look on their glassware.

I believe Sketchbook call themselves a nano-brewery. I am not sure exactly what that means, but their tap room is about 500 yards away, it is chill, friendly, and focused on celebrating beer culture. The folks who man (and woman) the taps are knowledgeable and are proud to be a part of this enterprise. There is no snobbery -- they are happy to work with you to find a beer that matches your preferences, or to discuss the specifics of the latest nano-brew.

Their logo is cool. They are killing it in the same town that many years before was the home of the christian temperance union (hi-larious!).

It's a short walk home.

I love this place, and you will too!

A great brewery, with a tasting room that has excitement and a solid selection of seasonal beers. This month (Aprill/May) has a selection of Rye based brews scattered with a delicious variety of stouts, Belgians and wheats. Stop by, hopefully there won't be a line. :)

They are food friendly too!
