L: Had this beer on-tap at The Answer Brewpub, poured into a pint glass. Had a medium brown color and a murky consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing here.
S: A very nice aroma of caramel, malt, coffee, and some vanilla as well. Unusual, but inviting.
T: Tasted of a moderate amount of malt, a little coconut, a surprisingly (for the style) big shot of coffee, lots of caramel, some toffee, and light vanilla notes. Like the aroma, the flavor is quite different than that of your typical scotch ale. The inclusion of coffee and coconut works well.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a mostly smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is a very bold, interesting take on the scotch ale. Very drinkable.
