Poured on tap at the brewpub in a snifter, the beer is jet black and oily thick, with a thin halo of tan head. Nose of bourbon, maple, vanilla, chocolate, and mocha. Flavors are smooth chocolate and coffee forward, with hints of smoke and rich cream. Solid cocoa linger through the aftertaste. Creamy body, with a smooth, slow finish. Boozy, with a building warmth as you drink. Good beer with some real hefty flavor profiles.

Opaque with a very soft and foamy beige head. Nose was more chocolate sweet than boozy, although hints of vanilla and alcohol drift out with the chocolate. Taste is phenomenal. There was an old fashioned chocolate, almost carob taste along with the vanilla and bourbon essence- but certainly no one element was overpowering. Nearly perfect balance throughout with only a little lingering sweetness.
