I was unfamiliar with calamondin, a Filipino hybrid between a mandarin orange and a kumquat. The flavor profile totally makes sense once I looked this up, as the pungent aroma of grapefruit and tart kumquat stands out on the nose well above the more subtle lychee notes. On the flavor profile, this is much the same, with a lot of kumquat and citrus pith, some blood orange, and only hints or lychee. The berliner base contributes a high degree of tart acidity, complemented by the intense citrus bitterness of the calamondin. I would recommend allowing it to warm up a bit to allow the sweetness of the lychee to emerge a bit more; it never becomes prominent, but it does provide a nice counterpoint.
