Papa Kahuna - Double Barrel

L: Deep and dark muddy charcoal hues with a thin mahogany head with a few coconut floaters
S: Nutella, almond butter, maple candies, and rich fudge on the nose
T: Decadent. So many luxurious flavors harmonizing in this brew - heavy grade B maple syrup, velvety hazelnut and peanuts, all balanced by a nice bitterness from the dark roast coffee and bite of the bourbon barrel
F: Insanely thick and sumptuous
O: Probably the best all around stout I've had from the Answer. A beautiful arrangement of very rich flavors underpinned by a velvety stout base. Nicely done

 

 

 

A friend smuggled this into a tasting recently in an unmarked swing-top bottle. The beer poured out jet black in color with a thin brown head on top. The smell of the beer is loaded with barrel notes, maple, and vanilla. The taste is much like the nose with lots of decadent sweet flavors that evolve as the beer sits on the palette. The feel of the beer is very silky smooth, very rich and oily. Overall it's an outstanding beer, was happy to have the chance to try it.
