L: Had this on-tap at The Answer, poured into a snifter glass. Had a medium brown color and a murky texture. There was a half inch of foamy, off white, fairly long-lasting head. Lots of lacing.
S: A very enticing aroma of chocolate, nuts, malt, and bourbon.
T: Tasted of a mild bit of malt (not overly noticeable), lots of milk chocolate (omnipresent), some bourbon notes (and the accompanying barrel), and a bit of almonds as well. Yup, it does in fact taste like a Tootsie Roll. It's sweet, sugary, and oddly subtle. The barrel aging isn't overly powerful, but it adds a extra dimension to the flavor.
F: A solid amount of carbonation with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.
O: On the whole, a very enjoyable - if slightly unusual barleywine. Worth a look.
