L: Had this beer on-tap at The Answer Brewpub, poured into a snifter glass. Had a medium brown color and a muddy, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white head that lasted an average amount of time. OK lacing.
S: An enticing aroma of nuts, chocolate, vanilla, malt, and apple brandy.
T: Tasted of a small amount of malt (not overly noticeable), a bit of vanilla, some of the advertised apple brandy, a hint of almonds, a good shot of chocolate (present throughout), and light hops. Yep, it tastes like a Tootsie Roll. It's sweet, complex, and the apple brandy adds an interesting dimension. Delicious.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth, if slightly thin, finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An incredibly enjoyable barleywine. Drinkable.
