Drank from a 32 oz. crowler purchased at The Answer Brewpub, Richmond, VA
Filled 4/16
Served in a stemmed glass
Gorgeous appearance. The hazy, garnet colored body was topped by thin, light pink film that quickly dissolved. A few small droplets of lacing trickled along the glass.
The aroma was insane. Chocolate covered raspberry notes dominated. Rich and fudgey. Raspberry purée also came to mind. Pleasantly sweet and also somewhat tart. Fairly simplistic overall but so good. As the beer warmed, the chocolate intensified and took on a milk chocolate-like quality.
The flavor profile followed the nose, but the chocolate presence here was definitely more subtle. Raspberry notes came through big time on the front end. Sweet, ripe, freshly juiced raspberries. A bit tart. Creamy and somewhat smoothie-like. Semisweet chocolate notes appeared on the back end. The beer finished with a crisp, slightly sour, lemony tanginess.
The mouthfeel was a bit disappointing. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a very fine, subtle effervescence that came across as almost flat.
This was my first time trying a chocolate-infused fruited beer, and it was pretty amazing. The chocolate was punchy yet surprisingly well integrated. I was initially skeptical as to how these flavors would work together, but they complimented each other perfectly.

L: Had this beer on-tap at The Answer Brewpub, poured into a snifter glass. Had a deep, dark red color and a thick, viscous consistency. Kind of looks like a smoothie. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.
S: A very enticing aroma of chocolate, berries, malt, and some other light fruit.
T: Tasted of a mild amount of malt (barely present), a good shot of chocolate (always welcome), lots of raspberries (very tart), and some of the redcurrants. This is a lively, sweet, and aggressive flavor. I didn't know what to expect with the redcurrants, but they're mild and add a nice dynamic to the flavor.
F: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp, vibrant finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An incredibly tasty and likable beer. Drinkable.
