L: Had this beer on-tap at The Answer Brewpub, poured into a snifter glass. Had a coal black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was an inch of creamy, tan-colored, long-lasting head. Fantastic lacing.
S: A big, bracing, alluring aroma of coffee, bourbon, chocolate, wood, and malt.
T: Tasted of a fair bit of bourbon (and its accompanying barrel), a decent amount of malt (present throughout), lots of chocolate (always nice), a nutty quality, and a ton of coffee. This is a complex, powerful, and enjoyable flavor. The coffee dominates the proceedings, but the other ingredients offer good support. Very tasty.
F: A decent amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Full-bodied.
O: An incredibly well done, tasty beer. Drinkable.

Drank on tap at The Answer Brewpub, Richmond, MA
Served in a tasting glass
Ridiculously thick and viscous, pitch black appearance. The oily looking body was topped by an uber tight and creamy, saddle brown head that grew to be two fingers tall, then ever-so slowly dropped to a thin, lasting film. Rings of drippy lacing coated the glass from top to bottom and stuck around until after the beer was finished.
The aroma was absolutely mesmerizing. Insane amounts of coconut overwhelmed my senses on the first whiff. Pure coconut oil came to mind. Loads of sweetened and creamed coffee. Big vanilla notes too. An intense milk chocolate presence rounded things out and made me think of this as a liquified Mounds bar.
The flavor profile was just as spectacular. Coffee notes came through big time right off the bat. Sweetened and creamed, freshly brewed coffee to be precise. Intense coconut notes appeared next. Loads of milk chocolate in the center. The coffee made its presence known again on the back end, but it was slightly roastier here. Touch of bitterness but zero alcohol presence. Hint of leafy hops too. Exceptionally well balanced, especially given the style and the ABV.
The mouthfeel was amazingly thick and viscous. Almost milkshake like. The liquid contained an ultra fine, subtle effervescence that turned super creamy and slick on the palate. After a few sips, the beer deposited a slightly stick film on my lips.
I routinely visit Trillium and Tree House and have enjoyed countless stouts from both, but none even come close to the intensity of some of those brewed by The Answer. Both the nose and the flavor of this stout were on an entirely different planet, and the body was so thick I almost felt like I needed a spoon. If this brewery bottled their releases, they would likely receive international acclaim.
