12oz can poured into a snifter
This version is 12%
A- pours thick, jet black in color with a paper thin head that disappears immediately
S- smells of dark roast coffee, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla bean, dried figs, caramel & carob
T- sweet chocolate and maple up front are followed by a blast of caramel, vanilla cream and brown sugar. Mid-palate brings out some dark roast coffee, as well as fried figs and raisins. The finish gives more sweet chocolate and vanilla, with a linger of caramel, maple and a hint of cinnamon
M- heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel that continues into a chewy, velvety, warming finish

No canned on date, released Black Friday.
Viscous, motor oil-like pour from the can. Small amounts of tan head rise to the top and circle the beer, but almost no noticeable rising carbonation in this pitch black beer. Settles flat, no lacing.
Huge notes of vanilla and caramel on the nose. Absolutely nailed the crème brûlée essence. The maple influence only adds to the sweetness, bringing the aromatics to a point of being - dare I say it - too sweet. On that same note, I would have like a bit of the roasty coffee to cut through and just mellow this one out a tad.
The palate really reminds me of Tiramisu. Caramel and maple very prevalent, and this time the coffee plays its part in adding a roasted flavor to help give the flavor profile much-needed balance. I'm also for the first time getting very pleasant notes of cinnamon, an adjunct I had previously forgotten was even in this beer. This coupled with the coffee gives it exactly what was missing on the nose.
Thick, viscous, smooth as hell. While my previous experience with this beer had yielded a surprisingly boozy finish, I got none of that this time. The 9.5% goes down very comfortably, with only a touch of warmth.

L: Had this beer on-tap a The Answer Brewpub, poured into a taster. Had a coal black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A very nice aroma of coffee, chocolate, malt, vanilla, and maple syrup.
T: Tasted of a hint of vanilla (lingers around), some maple syrup (not a big factor), a lot of chocolate (not overpowering, but present), some coffee (a big ingredient), a little malt (present throughout), and a hint of cinnamon. A solid, smooth, and focused flavor. It's has an excellent balance of flavor to it.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: A well done, easy to like stout. Worth a look.
