Black Friday Crowler Fill.
Pours a charcoal gray color, opaque and uniquely funky. Head is frothy and white, contrasting nicely and making for one of the most interesting looking beers I’ve ever poured into a glass.
Predominantly getting citrus and tropical fruit, namely some underripe mango, orange peel, and pineapple. Undertones of grass and dry, earthy hops.
Flavors with a bit more of a hoppy punch. Mildly dry and bitter, with notes of lime and grapefruit. Much more citrus on the palate, but getting a touch of lychee and pineapple as I continue to sip. Finishes a tad overly bitter, but it’s not off-putting.
A smooth drinker, with a low, soft carbonation. For the style I would have liked a bit more effervescence, however I’m not complaining. A bit boozy on the tail, with that warmth trailing all the way down.

L: Poured from a crowler to a pint glass. Had a stranger, grayish / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, off white, somewhat long-lasting head. Average lacing.
S: An interesting aroma of hops, citrus fruit, tropical fruit, and an odd, unidentifiable quality.
T: Tasted of a hint of tropical fruit (passion fruit, in particular), a decent amount of citrus fruit (orange, especially), a moderate amount of hops (just enough), and some of the advertised activated charcoal (strange). An odd flavor, but also an endearing one. The charcoal is slightly off-putting at first, but it settles down. Pretty tasty.
F: A decent amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: Not your typical black ale, but certainly interesting. Worth a try.
