A: Pours with a slight chilled haze, a dark red color. A dense beige head forms with good retention. Impressive lace is left behind.
S: Caramel malts, a touch of grassy hoppy bitterness. Though that recedes in a second. A bit buttery, and I don't really get any rye character.
T: Caramel malts, lots of sweetness, a touch herbal and grassy hops. Then lots of buttery diacetyl that lasts on and on. Really no rye character at all.
M/O : A medium body and moderate carbonation. Slick, oily, even soapy. Not hard to drink, and can come back to this at the brewery if nothing else interests me. Though not something I would seek out.
To sweet, to much perceived diacetyl (at least for me), and no rye character. So, this does not really hit any marks for me. I guess OK to drink at the brewery, but I have had many better versions of a Rye Pale Ale.
