This is there winter seasonal and an 8% Baltic Porter
A: Pours a near opaque black color. A dense tan head rises to over two fingers. Impressive spiderweb lacing is left behind.
S: Roasted malt with all that goes with it. Light coffee and chocolate. Simple, but the the big malt character is enjoyable.
T: Like the nose, up front is roasted malt with coffee and chocolate. Then becomes really sweet, almost sugary. Even a tough buttery, while not over bearing in any way, seems like diacetyl.
M/O: A full body with low to moderate carbonation. Seems really slick, oily, and even soapy. OK to a pint, but for me more of a one and done.
This started off as a really good porter. The sweetness, and the perceived diacetyl I get takes it down a few notches. If you can get past that, I can see how this is can be enjoyable.
