Pours a pitch black that no light passes through. Nose seems muted. Flavor is good. At first (I feel) it starts off with very little and then kicks in with great roasted malt flavors and a general roasted flavor as well. If I were naive and had not had others of the style before, I might give it a higher taste score. Feel is good. Thick with some character, but not so thick that it is odd or overdone. Very drinkable, though not the best example of the style. Basically it's drinkable because even though it is this particular style, it isn't entirely putrid. I have to give respect for trying, and doing a pretty good job, on what can be an extreme style.
