Had on tap at brewpub. Nice appearance. Malt flavors and aromas lower than the best examples. A little smoke in the background. Good but not classic.

Served a hazed, dark copper color with a lace-driven white foam. Not a bad looking brew here.
Nose is peaty and sweet malts with a touch of smoke and light fruit. Pretty good for the style.
Taste has a welcoming amount of peat and smoke, unfortunately the high fruitiness gets in the way; melons and berries. Smartees candy follows and ends up being a bit sweet on the finish as there is virtually no hopping to clean up. This one has promise, but needs a tweak or few to make it good. More smoke please!
