Fruity aroma and light citrus taste to the last sip

Poured from 473mL can into my 8th Wonder chalice. Best by 1/18/26.

Appearance: pale yellow hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam.

Smell: moderately sweet with a citrusy hop character. There's also a "sharpness" to the hops here that I've noticed in a number of hazies; not sure what causes that, but I don't love it. Still, it's not too bad.

Taste: malt is on the sweet side, with orange peel and passionfruit coming through from the hops. A little bit of that sharpness from the aroma persists, but it's definitely less pronounced. Not my favorite, but pretty decent.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: definitely on the low end for a hazy, but still a decent beer that I wouldn't turn down if offered.

 

Cloudy yellow-orange straw color. Poured a medium head that collapsed to a patchy skiff after a minute. Too cloudy to see the carbonation level. Left small dots of lace.

Smells mostly of horse blanket with some hops. There is something else in the background that I can only describe as sweet and powdery. Swirling the glass kicked the horse blanket up to a light barnyard. Some light grapefruit peel occasionally shows up.

Tastes of slightly sweet malt with some green vegetation, like the stems of some leafy plant. Light citrus. After it warms a bit, the hops start to show up. A light scorch flavor comes in towards the end. Mild bitters. The aftertaste starts with a pulse of strong barnyard that fades down while some bitters fade up. Towards the end the green vegetation comes back.

Mild foaming. Forms some large, sticky bubbles. Slight astringency. Strangely drying.

This had some nice scents and flavors in the background, but the horse blanket and barnyard stomped them flat. This is okay as one beer out of two or three because it provides some interesting contrast, but would be disappointing if it was the only beer available.

got to start with that this is not juicy as advertised, but a semi solid effort by FBC.

l: Slightly hazy yellow lemon color with a very small white head and just a finger or two of lacing.

S: Some citrust and orange, a light floral hop not quite as juicy as I expected.

T: Lemon rind and some citrus, mixed with a floral hop character, medium bitterness, not as juicy as expected.

F: Medium body, creamy Carbonation.

O: Not nearly as juicy as expected from a NE IPA.

 

650 ml split - pours a hazy pale golden with scant white head. Aroma is not distinct - a bit floral, slightly herbal, minor hoppy citrus. Taste is faintly citrus - I get more of a floral effect with minimal bitterness; hops present but distant. Smooth and sweet finish. Really not bad but not memorable - lacks the juiciness the style suggests.

 

 

Poured from a 650ml bottle. 6.7 ABV, 50 IBU, 7 different hops in this one.
A: Pours a cloudy light golden, thin white head and pretty good sticky lacing.
S: Nice light citrus spicy floral nose.
T: Hops are there first but not strong with tropical fruit and floral notes.
F: Nice malts to hops balance good carbonation very clean finish.
O: Pretty good east coast style IPA there are better ones out there but a good run here. Funny how all the B.C. brewers made a East Coast style all around the same time.

 

 

 

650ml bottle - another nautical reference for a purported NE-style IPA. Yup.

This beer pours a hazy, medium apricot amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some random chunky and streaky lace around the glass as it eventually sinks away.

It smells of mixed domestic citrus juice, grainy and bready (and slightly buttery) pale malt, a lesser caramel sweetness, some subtle earthy yeast, and well understated leafy, herbal, and musky floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, a touch of biscuity caramel, some still quite juicy orange, white grapefruit, and pome fruitiness, softly meaty yeast, and more earthy, weedy, and herbal verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly tame in its laid-back frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, nothing really getting in the way of the guest oat slickness here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and still muddled fruitiness carrying the lingering day.

Overall - yeah, this isn't bad, but there just seems to be something missing that one gets in the real New England deal. Oh right - that thing is called punch you in the face character, and that, er, essence, is lacking here. Good IPA, I suppose (including the look), but not really one of the specified sub-style.

 

This is a very solid beer, in a style that seems to be all the rage right now. I must say that the FBC boys have hit the mark with this one. It looks great - cloudy, golden, and with a lovely lasting white head. The smell is faint citrus with a hint of wheat. Taste wise, malt rules the day with late breaking hop bitterness to remind you what creature you are dealing with. Overall, a subtle and very approachable IPA from my friends across the Divide.
