Appearance - Pours a slightly hazy gold with four fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - citrus, tropical, grassy, and earthy hops, melon, biscuity malts, citrus, lemon peel, and earthy yeast.
Taste - Mild citrus, tropical, grassy, and earthy hops. The melon, bicscuity malts, citrus, and lemon peel come through next. The earthy yeast finishes off the brew. Mild
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth with the hops and fruits lingering.
Overall - A pleasant rendition of the New England IPA style. The fruitiness was pleasant which made it pretty sessionable. The hops however, were lacking which to me was a bit of let down which would've made it a standout in this category. That is my only criticism of this brew but overall, a highly drinkable brew from the folks at Fernie.

473ml can - a packaging format that is a bit of a departure for this heretofore bomber-favouring brewery.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with four fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and mildly fizzy off-white head, which leaves some decent layered cirrus cloud form lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.
It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, some muddled melon fruitiness, further understated domestic citrus notes, a bit of hard water flintiness, and more earthy, musty, and grassy green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, a bit of honeydew and cantaloupe melon sweetness, still fairly subtle orange and lemon citrus essences, some damp minerality, and more tame leafy, musty, and piney hoppiness.
The carbonation is pretty laid-back in its palate-tinging frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and essentially smooth, with a wee airy creaminess arising as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes trending dry, the fruity character kind of tailing off.
Overall - this is a pleasant enough version of the 'new' style, yet one that approaches my flavour-buds with kid gloves, as it were. Crisp, frooty, and with barely any bitterness of which to speak. Yup, that seems just about par for the course.
