Received an extra of this in a trade. An APA with prickly pear cactus juice eh? Interesting. Brewed with Mosaic...drat.
A - Poured in to my Duvel tulip a nice hazy light red/dark pink with a two finger white head that faded slowly to leave light lacing and a thin wispy blanket.
S - Aromas of big hops, earthy, musty, vegetative. Little medicinal. Not getting any prickly pair whatsoever.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, more of those earthy musty hops courtesy of the mosaic. I get a little bit of prickly pear cactus juice, but, it's surprisingly faint. Instead it tastes more like a regular single hop mosaic APA with a little bit of medicinal fruitiness.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, little fluffy.
O - Overall this is a disappointment for me. I expected the prickly pear to translate far more on the flavour and aroma. It smells and tastes just like a regular ol mosaic APA, the fruit lending more to the colour than the actual aroma and flavour. Really too bad.
