This beer is an Imperial version of the classic Black Ipa style. I've always enjoyed this style (Firestone fans, remember Wookey Jack?), but unfortunately it seemed to go out of style at some point. Pueblo Vida's Imperial version really does it justice. Black is Beautiful, but beer wise, especially when it's topped with a creamy brown head. The smell is true to the style, which for me is hops and anise. The taste is fantastic, with the aforementioned anise, dark chocolate, coffee, and molasses while giving you a nice hop bite to keep it in the IPA family. Most importantly, this was a collaboration brew with many breweries to bring attention to issues of racial justice, with proceeds going to the local NAACP chapter. Well done Pueblo Vida! Proud to call you Tucson's own.
