16 fl oz pull-tab can ran me $3.25 USD plus tax at a beer store in New Orleans, LA. No canned on/best before date. Label art shows a critter eating fruit.
"Ale with natural flavors." 7% ABV. "Berliner style weisse with peach ring candy, peaches, apricots and lactose." 8 IBUs.
Served cold.
Artificial peach. Peach ring candy is actually recognizable in the melange of fruity flavours. Apricot. Lactose sugar sweetness. I'm not getting any coriander and it's far from sour enough to rival the best Berliner Weisse beers...this is actually more sweet than sour owing to the peach candy and lactose, which steps on the sourness and acidity I normally love in a great Berliner weisse - but I guess the benefit is the crazy high 7% ABV (high relative to style norms) is well concealed by the sweetness.
In any case, I can't call it a great expression of the style, and the artificial bend of its fruitiness puts this beer in a lower tier than Berliner weisse beers fruited with real fruit instead of natural (read: artificial) flavors. This is more a peach and near-peach sour ale, and even then it's not very good at doing what it's trying to do. Needs more lactobacillus bacterial flavour, sourness, twang, and acidity, and I don't think the lactose sugar is doing anything for this beer that's helpful.
Drinkable but not worth the high price of admission.
