A lightly hopped DIPA? Who would have thought such a thing existed, but then again, here it is...
...And it was good, actually very solid in fact. I liked it's look - with decent lacing down the pint glass. Smell was about what you would expect and the taste was juicy if nothing else. Overall, I found this to be quite enjoyable and the 8% was well hidden. Good job...

Poured a cloudy, yellow body with decent head and fizzy lace down the glass. The aroma strikes me as a mix of pineapple, mango and maybe some other tropical fruit I can't place. Smooth, almost no bitterness, has a plush tropical fruit juiciness that balances with touches of pineapple and white grapefruit. Easy drinking beer with almost no bitterness and worth trying.

16 fl oz pull-tab can ran $3.49 USD plus tax as a single at a beer store in New Orleans, LA.
8% ABV. "Double IPA with Strata, Sabro, El Dorado, and Azacca hops." Collab between Pontoon and Ology Brewing. "Ale with natural flavors."
Coconut, passionfruit, citrus, mango, tropical fruit, papaya, pale malts, wheat.
Balanced but shallow, and lacking the hop pungency needed in an IIPA. It's a surprisingly simplistic and dull beer for an 8% ABV IIPA. Hop profile doesn't dazzle and it wants for more depth of flavour.
A mediocre uninspired effort from the two breweries behind it, and not a beer that bests an affordable widely distributed expression of the style like Lagunitas Sucks. I think I'm done buying beers from Pontoon and Ology for awhile...what I've had hasn't been great and their pricing is poor relative to the quality.
