Windsor Castle is the residence of Her Majesty the Queen. It is the oldest and largest fully operational castle in the world. Not to be confused with a “new castle”, much like this beer!! This Northern English Brown Ale is delicious, with a nutty, somewhat sweet malt character and delicate hop aroma. Weighing in at the lower end of 5% ABV, this is on the lighter side of our selections. Flavorful and lower in alcohol, we could drink it all day!

Fills a Pretentious Glass Company American Lager pint with clear, aged copper (SRM 18-22). Medium sized carbonation glitters within as it randomly races upwards. The head is creamy almond and briefly holds two inches before falling to a thick blanket. Wide streaks of lacing appear after each sip.
The aroma has a light sourness, with hazel nuts and toffee. Light coriander and maple show up as it warms. Extended warmth brings out sawdust.
Sweet malts have a general nuttiness with hazel nuts coming to the front. Biscotti follows, while late bitterness builds with warmth. The finish is long and mild, focused on astringent nuts.
This one has a medium body with a texture similar to cotton balls. Alcohol is a bit higher than expected. Medium carbonation. Astringency and dryness build with warmth.
This is a pleasant Northern English Brown Ale which I found to be enjoyable on a mild summer afternoon out back. Birds chirping and a light breeze rustling the trees brings to mind a pleasant English countryside.
