Formerly known as Witchcraft Gruit
Longtime followers will know this beer by its old name, the Witchcraft Gruit. Litha is the Celebration of the Summer Solstice, the Earth's Abundance and Joy. Our Litha Gruit is made with Dandelion, Coriander, Lavender, Ginger and Rosemary. It is not made with hops, which is the definition of a Gruit!
Look for our Litha Gruit In the lead up to Litha so you can celebrate the Solstice with this beer in hand! If this sounds intriguing and you haven't tried our other entry in the Witchcraft Gruit Series come see us. We'll set you up with an Ostara Gruit, made with Chamomile, Coriander and Sweet Orange Peel.

Fills a Harp nonic glass with a cloudy, yellowish-orange glow. Fine carbonation produces no head.
The aroma opens with heather and lavender, which are quickly joined by a trio of rosemary, coriander, and cinnamon. Warmth brings out lemon zest and ginger.
Lavender is very peculiar in a beer. Ginger is accompanied by late lemon and mild bitterness. It has a faint tartness with sweet notes. The finish starts strong with a ton of acidity that, as it draws out, becomes a subtle reminder of the initial flavors.
It has a thin body and oily texture, with a slight prickle of carbonation. The alcohol is well below expectations, yet still present.
This was an enjoyable and unique experience, however, it is far from sessionable. Tasty and refreshing, it worked well after a long day of yard work on a particularly hot and sunny afternoon. I am left wondering if it would pair well with a roasted pork loin.
