This one pours very dark brown with muddy cola highlights. A light khaki head of fine bubbles quickly falls to a thick ring and thin blanket. The second pour deposited chunks of sediment, causing a golden brown haze.
The aroma opens with sweet chocolate syrup and a background of mild, dark roasted malt. Apple cider is out of place as it shows up with warmth.
The flavor opens with sweetness and light sour notes. Chocolate and malt are subdued. Raisins make a strong appearance that builds with warmth. The finish is mild and lingering, carrying the sweetness forward. Warmth draws out light bitterness. The second pour produces cider flavors.
A medium body and slick texture are accented by light carbonation. The alcohol, while very low, is still noticeable.
This is an okay beer, however, it is too sweet and lacks the rich malt expected of the style.
