Received in a trade and shared with JLindros. Beer Advocate are my initial review...

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice slightly hazy chestnut hue with no real head, thin halo, excellent legs.

S - Big aromas of dark fruits, little sweeter malts. The Belgian sugars are subtle, as are the barrel notes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with bright barrel notes and good dark fruits, the quad base is pleasant however the actual barrel notes are subtle.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little fluffy, alcohol hidden pleasant however it's a bit slick.

O - Overall this was a solid enough quad, the base beer was overly sweet though and I wish the barrel was more prominent.

Thanks to rudzud
Pours a light foamy head with low retention, decent legs, dark molasses murky brown color

Nose big sweet malt, candy like malt with toasty grainy malt and a little caramel, nutty fruity toffee, light sticky sweet candy malt, some tangy tart fruit with an almost malt vinegar, but doesn't quite get there, rushed fermentation with tart and sour like funk that didn't really do what it promised

Taste sweet candy malt with some alcohol and toasty malt, rich candy sweet sugar with hot alcohol, candy sweet malt, with fair alcohol warmth and tingle, hot booze into fruit esters, fig, raisin, date, little marshmallow date nougat notes, fruity date and fig notes but not a ton, some barrel notes with light vanilla and bourbon but more alcohol than anything

Mouth is fuller bod, thicker syrupy with fair alcohol, lighter carb
