Murauer Bock, una joya producida a las orillas del río Mura (Mur) digna de beberse en noches de invierno. De sabor semidulce y sofisticado, evoca el teson de los maestros cerveceros de Murauer.

330ml bottle, from a "Best of Bock" Austrian mix pack. Label indicates this as 'Bock Beat' bock beer, with a wolf peering ominously, as opposed to the more common, docile goat.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden hue, with one anemic finger of thinly bubbly off-white head, which leaves but a few specks of islet lace around the glass as things move south.
It smells of sugary maize, some toasted grain, a bit of musty, floral hops, and very little in the way of the booze that I've become accustomed to with its boxed brethren. The taste is still corn-like, but with more of a bready aspect now, the extra booze seeping in a little, colluding with some confectioner's sugar to up the sweetness factor, and overwhelming the poor workaday noble hops.
The carbonation is soft, low, and perfunctory, the body a pleasant enough medium weight, and equally smooth, prodding booze aside. It finishes almost too sweet, but for the moderated alcohol edge, and plucky leafy, earthy hops.
Another offering from this trip through springtime in Austria (one which precludes The Sound of Music) that does an above-average job at integrating the elevated booze, at least to the point where I'm no longer trying to think of European malt liquor analogies.

330ml bottle poured into pint glass 18/5/12
A slight haze in a golden yellow body, just a few bubbles and nothing for head or lace
S smells of sweet corny malts, like malt liquor without all the solvent like booze not much going on at all
T more flavor then the smell would let you believe, some candied pineapple but not much more
M has a little weight to it but pretty flat, not much heat for 7.3% but still nothing special
O yawn, boring beer not much going on with this one but nothing offensive
I'm beginning to wish I never bothered with my "Best of Bock' box because its been pretty underwhelming up to this point

A smooth yet flavorable beer.
Color is a butterscotch gold with a large head that quickly thins and dissipates. Scent carries a wall of sweet malts without a sugary character of some dark lagers or belgian dubbels. Flavor carries a faint alcohol characteristic but aside from that is full of smooth almost whiskey barrel-esq sweetness. Carbonation is light but existent...very drinkable and not just in that "DIPA Ill have a second way"...
