Hand numbered bottle #105. No real information on the label which is a let down. The price was over $25, no wonder it hasn't been reviewed yet. Stored at cellar temperature for 9 months.
Big malt and some soy sauce aroma burst out of the bottle when I pop the cap - this stuff is intense. Pours dark mahogany with a tiny tan head that manages to last the whole glass. Soy sauce and molasses in the nose. Lots of booziness, christmas pudding, caramel in there too. Huge maltiness and a strong alcohol kick in the taste. Some soy and oxidized flavors in there. Berries and woody hops in the back. The mouthfeel is full bodied and sparsely carbonation, with a treacly mouthcoating feel. Sweet and boozy finish with lingering roasty malts.
A very boozy Barleywine and no surprise at 15%. The oxidized and soy flavors detract but it's not undrinkable.
