Clear golden color with slight effervescence and a fat finger of dense white head that leaves strong lacing. Love the can art, too.
Clean aroma of crackery malts, floral hops, with a little sweetness and a nice crisp edge.
Great tasting, with a kiss of sweetness from some almost bready malts at this point -- like the soft crust of a white bread. Mild bitterness appropriate for the style, that's a somewhat peppery, a little grassy and very slightly metallic. Not quite as crisp as the nose, but still with more of the pepperiness from the hops lingering in the aftertaste than any malt character.
Just a tad thicker bodied and more syrupy than I expect from a pils, with a strongly prickly feel to it as well.
I really enjoyed this one. Bare Bones is the perfect name for it, and is exactly what I look for in a German Pils. Don't get clever -- just brew a perfect, clean, crisp beer.

Clear golden color, floral and grassy smell and taste, light mouthfeel. Plays nicely with food of all types. A goto style and a goto beer. Very good.

A twelve ounce can with no visible date poured into a Lost Forty nonic pint glass.
Look- Pours a transparent dark gold leaving a finger of soapy white foam. It slowly settles to a thin ring around the glass with no lacing left behind.
Smell- Cereal and malt up front followed by some corn. There's a slightly floral smell that emerges in back.
Taste- Crisp malt, cereal, floral notes and corn in the finish.
Feel- Crisp and clean with a slight hop bite and semi dry finish.
Overall- A very drinkable pilsner with a wonderful kiss of hop flavor in the finish. It's a style that doesn't get any love these days, but when it's done right, it's worth checking out.

From a can into a willibecher, pours a little darker than I expect a pils to, but nice big pillowy puffy white head and good lacing. Nose is quite nice...good grassy and floral hops, crackery malts, maybe just a hint of black pepper. And the taste follows. It ends with a really pleasant bitterness, but there is just a tiny bit of metallic taste that bugs me a bit. Carb is a little too soft for me, and it isn't quite as crisp as I like the style to be either...the bitterness is there, though. My buddy brought a bunch of Arkansas beer back from his latest road-trip, and this is probably the best of the bunch. I enjoyed the chance to try it, and I'd be happy to have it again.

12oz can, served in a snifter glass.
Pours a medium golden yellow straw body, one finger white head, good retention, not much lacing. Smells of crisp bready malt, grass, biscuit, minerals. Pretty damn good nose, even for the style. Flavour is similarly grassy with a freshly baked bread and biscuit sweetness to it, good noble hop aromas and bitterness on the backend. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, crisp and perfectly refreshing for a warm day. Overall, a very nice pilsner that was perfectly balanced in terms of malt and hop. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Poured from an undated 12 ounce can purchased at the brewery. It pours golden amber with a two finger white head that quickly dissipated leaving decent lacing. The smell is bready, bright, with some lemony hop presence. The taste follows the nose and is also very bright. There is a cracker-like sweetness as well. As expected, there is a medium body and carbonation. Overall, this is an excellent pilsner. It's probably Lost Forty's best year-round beer, in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but the slight hop-forward nature of this beer makes is a winner in my opinion.
