12 oz can, tulip
A – Deep amber-brown with a cap of slightly off-white foam, with moderate-long retention. Very clear.
S – Rich caramel with light toffee and browned bread crust. Pine, pineapple, and melon. Some brown sugar in there as well.
T – Bread crust and light caramel. Pine, grass, and some pineapple make up the high profile. Highly bitter, but complementary to the big malt backbone.
M – Again, highly bitter throughout, complementing the moderate malt sweetness. Moderate to moderate-full body, a product of the huge malt backbone. Medium carbonation.
O – It’s not so much that this beer is groundbreaking as that it’s so well-made. The huge malt profile really complements the intense flavor of the hops as well as the bitterness. This may be my favorite Lost Forty beer, were I engaging in such hyperbole.
