Listed as Big Shirley Belgian Brunette with a 6.3% ABV, close enough I'm not calling it another beer. Below average head retention & lacing

Pours an effervescent copper/brown and a thumb of ivory colored head.

S: A little fig, a little cinnamon

T: Pear, green banana peel, a little grassyness too, plus dryness up front. Some juicy fruit as this warms, pear. figs & green banana when warm. Pears, dryness & rubberbands in the finish

MF: Medium body, lively carbonation

This is a decent take on the style, but prefer more depth & quite frankly more ABV in mine

12 oz can, tulip

A – Deep amber to light brown, pretty good clarity with just a bit of chill haze. Head is off-white nearing a very light tan, rises quickly to about a half-inch before fading fast. Light lace remains.

S – Banana and bubble gum, actually reminiscent of a light hefeweizen. Toffee and caramel make up the malt profile. Getting into the realm of a dunkelweizen.

T – Toffee, light caramel, Vienna-like malt flavor, with banana esters and a very light clove phenol. Again reminds me of a light dunkelweizen. Hops are light, herbal and woodsy, contributing moderate bitterness.

M – Carbonation is moderate, leaning towards moderate-light, and the beer has a medium body. Somewhat sweet up front with moderate hop bitterness.

O – Not really to any style it seems to be emulating, whether a Belgian of any sort or a German weissbier. I like what was attempted here, but it doesn’t really get to the best of any of its parts. Still, a pleasant-drinking brew.
