Ready yourselves for a dark, robust, Baltic Porter teeming with flavors and aromas of Dark Chocolate, Roasted Coffee, Cherry, Raisin and Vanilla.
Unlike other porters, Baltic Porters are lagered for a smoother taste and finish, with a robust body - and this one is no exception. Our Baltic Porter exudes intoxicating aromas of roasted coffee, coating the palate first in malty dark chocolate, coffee and cherry flavors before finishing with a smooth, dry bitter dark chocolate taste.

Lost Forty Baltic Porter has a medium, somewhat soapy, beige head, a black (with brown highlights) appearance, and a bit of glass lacing. Aroma is of sweet cream and bread crust, and the flavor is of that, with black cherry and char, but in no way burnt. Mouthfeel is medium, and Lost Forty Baltic Porter finishes fairly wet.

Poured from 12-ounce can into a goblet. Dark brown colored body, with a fairly thin tan head that rapidly settles without a trace. Aromas and flavors of roasted malts with notes of espresso bean, dark cocoa, dried fruit, and vanilla, with undertones of tart cherry and licorice. Mouthfeel is medium-light and slightly creamy. Finish is dry, with a touch of astringence. Overall, a very solid Baltic porter. Or dark lager.

Got in a BIF from jdell15. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 2/2/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, vanilla, smoke, char, molasses, raisin, cherry, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, vanilla, smoke, char, molasses, raisin, cherry, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted dark/brown bread, nuttiness, vanilla, smoke, char, light molasses/dark fruit, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7/8%. Overall this is a delicious Baltic Porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very rich with great well rounded porter malt complexity; mild balancing hops and complementing yeast fruits. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Pours an effervescent ebony with a thumb of caramel colored head. Slightly above average head retention & lacing
S: Charred grain & cocoa, plus roastyness once warm
T: Follows the nose, more cocoa than char, dryness too, hints of coffe grain & vanilla as well up front. More dryness, a touch of iron to go withe coccoa &as this warms, some black currant as well, plus roastyness. Finishes dry, roasty with cocoa
MF: Medium body, semi-firm carbonation
A good take on the style, pretty drinkable despite the complexity

A jet black brew with an bold aroma of roasted malt and blackberry. Tastes toasty straight through from start to finish with other notes of berry and milk chocolate. Nice and creamy up front with a medium body and a drier finish.
Quickly finding that Lost 40 is a solid brewery. Moar.

Draft, snifter
A – Very black, midnight. Somewhat heavy pour. Thick foam head is deep tan, a quarter inch. Lingers for a bit.
S – Chocolate, milky sweet combined with some cocoa nibs, some caramel and light fruit, and a touch of cola.
T – Baker’s chocolate and a bit of milk/lactose-like flavor, along with cherry cola and a bit of toffee or molasses. Some light herbal hopping.
M – A lush, moderately thick body that envelops the tongue, with moderate carbonation. Moderate levels of sweetness and bitterness, well balanced. Some moderate dryness.
O – Very flavorful, a lot of complexity within a style that allows some room for interpretation.
