Arkansas Winter IPA

Brewed with caramel malts that add perfectly malty sweetness. Tropical and citrus hop aromas are layered upon a hefty malt backbone with an assertively bittersweet finish.

Best thing about this beer is how it looks, a rich amber hue with a frothy foamy head that dissipated quickly but left a slight lacing. Smell is more bitter roasted malt than anything, a bit of hoppiness. Taste is malty, mild funky hop aftertaste. Clean feel, light bodied, slight booziness. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Sampling a cold 12 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Beer is courtesy of a trade with @jvgoor3786. Thank you!

The beer pours a bright clear amber to copper color with a fluffy orangish tinted head of 2 cm foaming up. I really like when the head picks up some color from the beer. This foam fades slowly to a sturdy surface layer throughout the sampling and creates windowpane lattice when I swirl the beer or take a sip.
The aroma is a nice mix of pine sap and some grapefruity citrus notes. Clean hoppy nose with faint hints of a toffee buried under the hop lead.
First sip reveals an easy to drink smooth textured medium body. I also get fine tingly carbonation that fizzes up as I swirl the beer in my mouth.
Flavor is what I anticipate from the nose and style. I get a very short lived toffee flavor as the beer enters my mouth and then this gives way to hops. The hop character is not juicy. I get pine sap, grapefruit rind and the finish is dry and astringent bitter bite. I dont get any hints of the 6% ABV and the beer drinks pretty fast and easy.
A nice crisp refreshing old school IPA. Glad to have tried this one and brings back memories of pre juice bomb IPAs.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of roasted malt, pine and citrus notes. Sweet toffee taste with caramel and a strong piney bitterness. Smooth finish.

A: Pours a beautiful dark reddish orange color. A two finger white head forms with excellent retention and lacing for days.
S: Big resin, pine and grapefruit aromas up front. Some caramel malts in there. While fairly one noted, still not bad at all.
T: Like the nose. With resin, pine and grapefruit up front. Some woody hop flavors as well, along with caramel malts and a light sweetness. Plenty of bitterness lingering.
S: A medium body with good carbonation. Crisp and clean. Easy to drink, certainly an enjoyable and straightforward IPA. Nothing wrong with that.

While the hop character comes off a little one noted with the resiny pine and grapefruit. It seems a call back to the bitter IPA's from the long ago micro breweries. Instead of the new wave of IPA. I much prefer the call backs to the older style. Certainly a good IPA in that regards, if not my favorite done by this brewery. Still something to get that won't disappoint while out and about Little Rock when in season.
