The Buddy System wort was brewed at Hawk Moth Brewery and shipped to Lost Forty, then kept for 14 months in Petite Sirah barrels and bottle conditioned for an additional 5 months, developing flavors of robust wine, funky Brett and a touch of malt.

A collaboration with Hawk Moth Brewing, which I have never had anything from. This is a Biere de Garde aged in Sirah wine barrels and mix culture fermentation.
A: A dark, not exactly opaque orange/red color, that is a bit muddled. A dense white head forms with good retention and lace left behind.
S: Plums, cherries, funk in the nose. Vinous, and a touch vinegary. Interesting and enjoyable, even if the vinegar kind of stands at odds for me.
T: Plums, tart cherries, funk, vanilla and caramel sweetness. Again, a touch vinous and vinegary. The slightest bit of acidity and more sweetness.
M/O: A medium to full body. Moderate carbonation with some tannin like characteristics. A nice one to sip on, even though I'm not craving more. Interesting and enjoyable.
Again, an interesting take. The wine barrels definitely add to this, kind of a tannin, vinous and vinegary character. While that is not bad, it just all seems at odds, and doesn't mesh exactly right for me. Glad I got a chance to try, and will enjoy the bottle, but thats about it.
