a mosaic focused ipa, and a pretty good one at that. my only complaint with it is that there is a little more of the medium crystal malt in here than it needs. fuller bodied and sweeter than is desirable in the style, but just by a little bit. i should have known from the almost copper bronze color this has, but the head is tall and the clarity is high, and it looks pretty yummy on the whole. the nose is balance pretty well, it doesnt smell like a whole lot of early boil hops, as the sweetness of the grain is way out in front of any hop bitterness, but the aroma of the mosaic is prominent. its juicy and fresh with lemon candy and orange peel notes, in all of its glory. in the flavor its just a bit muted. not lost to the grain, just not as strident as it is in the nose. smooth feel, none of their beer ever feels too carbonated, but in the ones i had today, it didnt really detract, and this is no exception. with the mosaic, i almost want to slow it down a little bit and let it linger, and it does that really well. not the best ipa in town, but a quality product and a pretty nice showcase for mosaic.
