absolutely not a very belgian take on the style here, lighter in color, body, and yeast character. heavier in fruitiness and residual sugar and booze burn, but its pretty good still. even if it isnt all that good, its good to me. its a neat strong ale, crimson red in color and mostly clear, a little flatter than it could be, but not still in the globe. dried cherries, prunes, and molasses in the nose and taste, like a liquid trail mix of sorts, and less of the belgian yeast than i normally look for, maybe not less of it, but more of the quick hot high tone thing, less of the rustic rich old world lathery maturity. i miss that element, but i like the flavors quite a lot. the cherry seems forward in the taste, but no fruit at all in this. lighter in body than it should be, my only real negative here and despite this being a little amateurish, its really good overall. these guys have come a long way in their short time of operation, and the belgian beers are the ones that show the most progress. im sure they will keep evolving. they are fast becoming one of the better breweries in the immediate neighborhood. this is unique as quads go, but darn tasty as belgian strings are concerned. the alcohol is insanely well hidden.
