Served on draft in a snifter
Appearance: dark copper with a hint of brown. Beautifully bright. The lightest tan head with good retention.
Aroma: yep, hops! Stop taking notes already and drink, damnit! Hops with alcohol in the nose.
Flavor: damn enjoyable. Hops! Strong ale? This could as easily pass for a darker colored 2X IPA, and one I'd readily buy repeatedly. Excellent! The hops are the headliner, but the malt provides the stage. The malt is sweet but very well balanced. Alcohol is a component in the flavor, but isn't hot whatsoever, which is a credit to this beer being it is 10% abv.
Mouthfeel: spot on for this style of beer. Medium to a wee bit medium-heavy. The weight of this beer, well...this is certainly not a thirst quencher - more of a late evening sipper.
Overall: impressive. A neighborhood brewery producing beers of this caliber will quickly outgrow "neighborhood" capacity. Extremely well done beer. Much better than many of the better-known craft breweries.
