Using 100% UK ingredients (except the water), this beer is loaded with chocolate and espresso aromas and a hint of dark berries. The black patent, chocolate, and brown malts combine to form a flavor that is like biting into a dark chocolate covered espresso bean. With a smooth, almost cream like texture and clean finish, this beer is a perfect winter session ale.

really cool to encounter a beer this dark and flavorful, but also really sessionable, especially this time of year. tons of bitter cocoa and espresso notes to it, the description here is right on. looks really fuzzy on the pour, almost like a nitro beer, but it settles back quickly. bitter nose, very little residual sugar here and its evident right away. they clearly did a nice job scaling back the malts that are more fermentable than the real dark ones they have used here, and allowing it to dry out but not get too high on the alcohol. i suppose i miss the body a little bit, and with all the bubbles its a bit light, even for the established mission, but it works really well just the same. i get almost a rummy raisin complexion, short of fruity, but moving there in the middle, and a lot of malt based bitterness on the back end. dark chocolate and spend coffee grounds round it out. traditional ingredients and flavors put together to make something very new wave and original. really nice one on the whole. could have several pints.

Was lucky enough to have this on nitro, poured into a Belgian snifter. In almost every way it reminded me of Left Hand's Milk Stout Nitro - and that's a good thing! A really good thing. Basically, smooth roasted malts giving bitter chocolate and coffee tones. More bitter than sweet, just how I like my porters and stouts. I'm not a fan of dark fruit flavors, and I'm glad it wasn't present in this beer. The nitro mouth feel just makes it all the more pleasurable. Drank this after eating a burrito from the Chipotle across the street and it made for a very nice post meal drink.
