a very simple and drinkable brown ale, but one of the best made beers i have had from these guys. its really textbook to style. fairly dark in color as they go, just a bit of light can pass, and the one inch tan head holds pretty well. it smells and tastes like toasted almonds and chocolate malt, a really nice combination. great earthy nuttiness developed in the mash, and the english ale yeast has been kept tame by a perhaps cooler temperature or more mellow strain, and its graham crackery contribution is on point. its only moderately hoppy, but the hops are there for sure, european bittering type, but enough to counter some of the sweeter parts of the grain. the body is really light, especially for the color, and the carbonation is medium at best, so it drinks easy but smooth, almost has a cask conditioned feel and maturity to it. i know they have some way more ambitious beers on their menu, but its nice to see a newer brewery executing basic styles this well. they are near the top of their class in that regard. very enjoyable afternoon pint!
