for being one of their more simple beers, this one is actually really good. hard to tell if it really is a lager or not, listed as a belgian pils on their chalkboard menu, but listed here as a belgian pale, and its not readily obvious from the yeast. pale yellow color, with a short lived white head on it in the correct glass, but it is for sure a shade or two darker than most european pilsners that i know of. it smells like belgian yeast before lager yeast, thats for sure, but there is a familiar european sort of breadiness to this as well that does suggest the presence of some lager yeast. the belgian elements are also sort of subdued, so maybe it was fermented cooler, who knows really. the beer is expertly refreshing, still with some body, and more hoppy than expected, but dry as can be and very well carbonated, clean, and crushable. they have been messing around with different sort of ale and lager hybrids, and i suspect this is another one of those. its one to make a day of drinking, and from an execution standpoint, it is one of their best beers yet!
