a barrel fermented sour ale here done in pinto grigio, although the bartender informs me they already have some other wine vessel editions of this in the works back there. i thought this was pretty cool, not sure its totally wild, it has a kettle soured bacterial complexion, and not mature or funky enough to me to be wild, but i could be wrong. i also swear there is fruit in this, i get such an obvious and natural passion fruit complexion that i am almost positive there is some in it, but the bartender tells me no fruit. i find it hard to believe such an obvious and intense passion fruit profile could come from the wine barrel alone, but it sounds like it must have. i get tropical candy and champagne along with the passion fruit, and not as much wood as i would have expected for how intense the fruitiness of the wine is in here, its like the wood part didnt come with it somehow. pretty high level acidity here, its real sour, and i couldnt drink more than one of these in a sitting, but i do think its cool they are doing beers this ambitious in here now. this is a success overall, and it has me excited to try the other barrels they have working!
