Half at brewery. Dark, clear brown, small filmy head. Aroma comes across as sweet, light honey. Taste hrings more sweetness, dry. Not getting any nutty flavors.

maybe the best brown ale around town here, certainly one of the best beers bear island makes, not sure how i have missed it until now, but i was very impressed with my pint this weekend. its a deeper brown color with a matte luster and a just off white head that rises and holds above the rim of the glass, really a pretty pour. aroma is a little sweet, i think this is done with honey, but its not floral or anything, the little sweetness pulls up a nice chocolate element from the malt, and this isnt overly complex, its built for speed, a perfect fall drinker i reckon. the flavor has a nice dry baking chocolate layer, a little something bready from the yeast, and a pleasant grounding nuttiness that almost hints at hazelnut, definitely a little flash of the honey present through most of it, a baked character gives it a warmth, but its fast finishing and only medium bodied, very nicely refined, professional quality execution. really an exceptional specimen, we are lucky to have this on tap full time over here, i think its an under appreciate beer on the local scene and in the bear island lineup!
