In the name of good beer we rebuke the lazy hazy movement! "Hazy Rebuke" is our rebuttal to quick and cheap hazy IPA development, instead we are here to show the fantastic side of hazy beer: bright in your face aromatics and a hop bitterness that is balanced by the rich texture from wheat and oats.
Hops used: Citra, Centennial, Cascade and 'dryhopped' with actual Grapefruit!!!

a grapefruit hazy ipa, although that element is slight in here, just okay overall, not among the better bear island beers, just a little muted and unexciting, not old or anything to me, just not popping, i think the standard for this style has come a long way in the west in recent years and this just isnt competitive, not a bad beer, but a full league below where the style is at right now, just the way it is, i like the grapefruit part, wish for more of it here, it only partially covers in nose and taste for a lackluster hop complexion, not unpleasant just underdosed to me, almost better taken in as a pale ale. i think the grain part of this is nice, some fluffy body, a pale color, off dry, soft feeling from the oats and wheat, not uncommon in these, but they got that part right. aroma and flavor somewhat muted, a little bit woodsy and with the recognizable grapefruit, not real juicy or anything, not not bitter or zesty or pithy, its just mellow but seems real, the hops have herbal and grassy character, less of the complimentary citrus i was expecting, and seems overly restrained in this, just not a very exciting palate, but the grain is fresh and gentle and earthy and the balance is just fine. it has a little weirdness to the ferment, like its not super clean, but the finish of grapefruit is nice, kind of springy, overall i feel like it just underwhelms in a world where it takes a lot to stand out with a hazy ipa right now...

Draft at Bear Island. Hazy golden pour with a beautiful fluffy white head that lasts. Very light citrusy aroma. Taste picks up on the citrus zest, grapefruit, light lemon.
