This one's black with a good body, bot a heavy thickness but certainly sturdy, and allows no light to shine through except at the edges. The head is a foamy tan one that's tight and stands about a full finger tall, retaining itself well and leaving behind good patching.
This one drinks like a Cascadian Black, or Black IPA (whichever you prefer) all the way, more like a hoppy stout in the tradition started by Victory's Storm King. It still has the malts but with lots of brighter bitterness and dry leaf making for a more unusual take. Roast still runs through from beginning to end, but those hops can't be ignored.
The body is just as expected from the aroma and flavor, running semi-dry with hops on the palate brining both a certain juiciness and dryness almost simultaneously. It has a good body, full without a lot of richness sweeter stouts bring, but one that somehow just works.
Don't be surprised by the unusual nature of this stout. It's a good beer, though one that may not be what's expected.
