This beer is the perfect combination of old and new. Spelt is a old school traditional malt that we unearthed, close to traditional wheat, and combined that with a hop varietal thats so spanking new it doesn't even have a name yet. BRU-1 hops have plenty of tropical fruit flavors, and spelt adds a nice roundness to the body, so this bitch is juicy as all hell, with enough haze to satisfy all your trendy buzzword needs. Enjoy this old world/ new world mashup quickly, because like everything we make it won't be around long, and besides this coincided well with Spring finally deciding to show up. Raise your glass, enjoy your hangover, and drink promiscuously friends!

12 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours opaquely hazy/cloudy medium orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, tangerine, red apple, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, wheat, spelt, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, tangerine, red apple, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, wheat, spelt, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, tangerine, red apple, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, wheat, spelt, biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with minimal astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is good. A bit of resiny roughness on the finish. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is a pretty nice IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Not sure if they were trying to do a spelt malt NEIPA or something, not soft enough. Not really a big fan of the solo Bru-1 hops with this, should have complemented it with something else. Very earthy, dank, and pome/stone fruity hops; with a nice bready malt backbone, and mild residual sweetness. A nicely enjoyable and unique offering otherwise.

12 oz can from Chalet Premier for $2.75 into two glasses with Lisa at home.

This simply isn't good. Weird floral smell, almost like honey suckle or lavender. Taste isn't much better but has a lemony tartness that is an improvement. The flavor from the nose sticks around throughout though, gross. Feel is fine - medium body, medium carb, slick and thin for the big ABV. My homebrew IPA on draft right now is wayy better than this.

I've yet to be impressed by these guys... about to give up trying.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is semi cloudy yellow with an orange tint color. has a small white head. The aroma is mostly citrus and hops. The taste is a nice NE IPA flavor.

I love that these guys put out a new batch of something different regularly. I've had damn near every one of the "batch" beers, and I have to say this is one of my favorites. Hazy, juicy, but not just like every other N.E. style you've had already. Thanks, NIP!
