Throughout construction, a phrase that you would inevitably hear shouted out here at Iron Duke was “Its Dead Nuts”. This was usually in reference to something that was installed perfectly level or dead on its target. Dead Nuts, the beer, is a perfectly balanced American IPA that finds the sweet spot of Malt and Hop balance. The spiciness of Rye shows up again and is amplified by the use of American hops such as Chinook and Falconers Flight to name just a couple.

Very pleased to see that this product is now available in an attractive 16 oz. can. I think the taste is quite unique for an IPA produced in New England primarily due to the impact of the rye malts used. Unusually robust body for an IPA with only a 5.6% ABV. In a market teeming with so many different types of IPA's, I think Dead Nuts is a winner and hope the brewery is able to move it into a wider retail distribution.

The rye malts do justice with this.

Had this beer at the Worthy Brewfest in Springfield. Review taken from notes. The beer had a mix of amber-orange for its appearance with a sharp, piney, floral hops aroma. The drink tasted pretty sweet with an orange and grapefruit citrus mix flavor. The mouthfeel was excellently carbonated making this a nice, crisp beer. Overall, I thought this was pretty good.

Great aroma of citrus. On draft served in a pint glass at a local restaurant. Lots of grapfruit rind in the finish. Nice medium carbonation. All around a nice beer.
